Beauty tips and what to wear while traveling

Travelling can be unpleasant unless you are fully prepared. (Pic: Pexel Stock)

You’re seated, buckled in and an hour into a five-, possibly 12-hour flight, you realise that your favourite skinny jeans and crop-top wasn’t the best outfit choice to travel in. That when you fell asleep (which you will) with a thick layer of foundation and a winged eyeliner, the face you woke up with isn’t as perfect as it was when you boarded the plane.

Planning an overseas trip is exciting, but getting to your destination often involves hours of travelling – which can be unpleasant if you’re not fully prepared.

Unless you’re travelling business class, your space is limited; you’re seated for long periods at a time and often the temperature onboard drops.

These are just a few of the factors to take into account before boarding in order to have a pleasant and comfortable trip.

What to wear

In flight I always opt for track pants, a thin, long-sleeved tee and then I keep fuzzy socks and another warm top or hoodie in my hand luggage, because the cabin tends to get cold.

The hoodie also helps when you aren’t given an eyeshade and need some added darkness for naps.

You also want to wear shoes that can easily be slipped on and off.

On trips themselves, when it’s summer, I pack a ton of dresses or jumpsuits. It counts as a full outfit, it’s lightweight when packing and generally super comfortable.

Beauty Tips

I’m pedantic about in-flight skincare; you should NEVER wear make-up while flying!

I use hydrating sheet masks, creams and oils in-flight, and drink about 2 litres of water, since your body loses around that much on long-haul journeys.

When I arrive at the destination, it’s sunblock first, and lightweight or easy make-up that you can do in 5-10 minutes.

Handbag must-haves

Hand sanitiser and cream, tinted lip-balm, a camera and your wallet.
